The Patient Care Coordinator performs administrative duties relevant to surgical operations and coordination and communication of patient care activities for Wentworth Health Partners' OB/GYN & Infertility office.
The Patient Care Coordinator plans appropriately for patient care. Effectively communicates with patients/family members. Performs patient intake
functions. Provides individualized, age-specific care to patients under the specific orders of physician or provider.
The Patient Care Coordinator helps ensure adequate preparation for surgery by ensuring that necessary equipment is scheduled and in the correct room and by continually maintaining surgical inventory. Prepares x-rays and medical paperwork for surgery each day. Prepares the patient plan of care for surgery, provider patient education and answers questions or addresses concerns beforehand. This may include scheduling of pre-operative tests/care and being alert to medical flags.
Successful completion of an Accredited Medical Assistant School/Program or have completed comparable training in the military.
Minimum of 5 years surgical scheduling experience required.
Basic understanding of ICD-10 and CPT codes preferred.
BLS or CPR.
Must be MA certified or registered within one year of hire.
