Adjudication Specialist (Remote) [United States]

An Adjudication Specialist serves a critical role in Aramark’s hiring process and enables Aramark’s managers and human resources professionals to make employment decisions consistent with applicable laws, rules and regulations governing the pre-employment screening process. An Adjudication Specialist works closely with Human Resources, Operations, Compliance and Global Security.

The Adjudication Specialist is responsible for administering Aramark’s screening process and for conducting individualized assessments where required by Aramark’s practices.

Specifically, the Adjudication Specialist will, among other things:

  • Confirm compliance with Aramark’s screening process including confirmation that all required background checks were conducted in accordance with Aramark’s practices and applicable law.
  • Confirm compliance with applicable statutory requirements such as fingerprinting, clearance requirements and/or occupational licenses and registrations.
  • For those individuals identified by the screening process, conduct an individualized assessment and adjudicate the individual’s background check results consistent with Aramark’s practices and applicable law. This will periodically require consultation and collaboration with Aramark’s Global Security team and/or Legal Department to properly assess the level of risk to Aramark.
  • Conduct additional research into and gather additional facts about the circumstances underlying incidents identified in an individual’s background check results and review any additional information provided by the individual.
  • Assess and determine the job relatedness of particular criminal convictions and analyze relevant business necessities including, but not limited to, access to or interactions with sensitive populations (e.g. students, patients, the elderly, etc.), access to confidential information, use of heavy equipment, machinery or vehicles, cash-handling, fiduciary responsibility for the assets of Aramark and/or Aramark’s clients, the environment in which the job’s duties are performed, etc.
  • Handle the issuance of required notices to conditional hires consistent with Aramark’s practices and applicable law.
  • Document adjudication determinations and communicate those determinations to internal business partners.
  • Demonstrate expertise and apply it to the development, execution and refinement of Aramark’s background check processes to satisfy the needs of internal business partners and/or Aramark’s clients.
  • Assist with background check practices in areas outside of hiring/employment such as volunteers, subcontractors and temporary labor.
  • Models compliance with Aramark’s practices and procedures and supports the company’s mission, values and focus.
Qualifications

  • Minimum of three to five years of job experience, preferably in human resources, law enforcement, criminal justice or the legal profession
  • College degree preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal direction; take initiative
  • Ability to assess and analyze information and exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to manage a wide variety of confidential information on a regular basis
  • Proven attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks according to business needs
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral) skills and ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to build influence through logical and convincing decision making
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage a high volume of workflow and multi-task
  • Demonstrated focus on ethics and integrity
  • Familiarity with the nature and severity of criminal offenses and/or the criminal justice system a plus
  • Familiarity with anti-discrimination statutes, rules and regulations also a plus
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Explorer (or similar web browsers)

Employees are able to enroll in the company’s 401k plan. Employees are eligible for 80 hours of vacation, 16 hours of floating holidays, and paid sick time every year. Compensation: The salary rate for this position ranges from $45,000 to $75,000, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors.
